Problem with the file :File:Mapa gminy Pabianice.svg

I'm having a problem with the file mentioned above. It's not displaying. Is this a problem with the HTML or wiki code? Who should I report this to? Thank you for your reply. Bogusław Pab (talk) 14:31, 9 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

I uploaded my file but now I get an error when I put it into my page. I get: You do not have permission to upload this file, for the following reason: The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the groups: Autoconfirmed users, Administrators, Confirmed users. TTXTrick (talk) 21:22, 9 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@TTXTrick: your upload did not succeed but was stopped by an automated filter: [1]. The filter prevents new users from uploading images via cross-wiki tools due to many copyright violations. To be an autoconfirmed user your account needs to be more than four days old.
The upload log shows that you claimed that ONU logo is entirely your own work (ie. you were the artist that created the logo). Is this correct? MKFI (talk) 07:53, 10 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

I have a problem.

[edit]

I have a problem. So over the course of the last two months I have been gathering photos for NSW rolling stock articles with many of them sourced from an elderly friend of mine and a few others and now those photos are facing deletion. My friend was happy for me to use these photos and so where the others I got photos from. This is especially problematic since many of these were taken before I was born and some depict carriages that have long since been scrapped. It worth noting that none of the people I got them from have time to upload these photos themselves. What can I do? Chester H. Winnfield (talk) 07:07, 14 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi Chester H. Winnfield. Do you know who took the photos? Your friends? Someone else? If your friends took the photos, you should be OK by following the guidance given in Commons:Uploading works by a third party#If you need to obtain a license for copyrighted work. If you don't know who took the photos, then things get a bit trickier to sort out. The reason this is important is because the person who takes a photo is generally considered to be the copyright holder of the photo. So, if your friends took the photos, then all Commons really needs is to verify they're willing to give their COM:CONSENT for their photos to be uploaded to Commons in accordance with Commons:Licensing. If your friends didn't take the photos themselves, then you, your friends and Commons need to figure out who did to see whether there's any way for Commons to keep the photos. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:47, 14 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Most of them came from friends of mine and one from a friend of one of my friends as well. There are two that are uncredited because the people I got them from didn't know who took them. Chester H. Winnfield (talk) 00:13, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
If your friends took the photos, and they're OK with releasing them under the kind of copyright licensing described in Commons:Licensing, then all that Commons really needs is to have some formal way of verifying your friends' willingness to do so. One way your friends can do this is by emailing the Wikimedia Volunteer Response Team (VRT). They can use the email template in COM:CONSENT as a guide. Another possiblility if your friends published the photos somewhere online (e.g. one of their social media accounts) prior to you uploading them to Commons would be for your friends to add an acceptable license to the photo where it can be seen online as explained in COM:VRT#When contacting VRT is unnecssary?. Either verfication of coyright holder consent by email or through some type of publication prior to the photos being uploaded to Commons could be all that's needed. -- Marchjuly (talk) 09:10, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
One of my friends is Roy Howrath who I got the photos of TF6010 and ETB6037 from that were on SETS website. Does that count? As for Greg and Joe I don't know Joe well enough to know if he has social media and Greg has a lot of things to do and I don't think he would have time to either send that email. While he has social media, he hasn't posted any of his photos that are on here. If he was to give his permission through email, could he grant permission for all his photos at once? Chester H. Winnfield (talk) 09:42, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
If one of your friends has uploaded their photos to a website, and they've already or are able to make it clear on said site that their photos are released under a copyright license that Commons accepts (see Commons:Copyright tags and Commons:Licensing/Justifications for some more information on the types of licenses which are OK for Commons), the providing of a link to said site showing the photo and the copyright license should be OK for verification purposes (as long as the original publication of the photo predates its upoading to Commons). If your other friends want to email Wikimedia VRT to give their consent for their photos, then that should work too. There needs to be someway to directly connect the copyright holder to their photos and then some way to verify copyright holder consent. If one of your friends wants to give their consent for multiple photos, then I'm pretty sure they can do so as long as they're the copyright holder of all the photos: they can't give consent for photos taken by someone else. They can just mention the file name of each photo they want to give their consent for in their email. You probably should advise your friends to use an "official" email address if they've got one because it might be easier for VRT to verify they're who they say they are. There's more on this in the very last paragraph of COM:CONSENT. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:09, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
This honestly hurts my head. Chester H. Winnfield (talk) 13:15, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Uploading an adapted work on image in public domain cc-by or cc-by-sa license

[edit]

When I adapt to work from the public domain, CCBY cc-by-sa and want to upload it to the commons, the first question is did you created it, do I say I created the work but it’s work contains other works from someone or do I say that it’s a work from someone else? WikiGrower1 (talk) 03:41, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@WikiGrower1: If you've adapted it, you should say it is your work based on someone else's work. - Jmabel ! talk 05:51, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you WikiGrower1 (talk) 14:31, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
So if someone else took the picture and I make edits do I say it is my work that contains other works? WikiGrower1 (talk) 14:35, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
@WikiGrower1: Basically, yes (although "contains" isn't really the term, it's "derives from"). I can imagine edge cases where that would not be accurate, but that seems to be what you are describing. - Jmabel ! talk 23:32, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Would if it is in a cc-by-sa, do I say it is my own work derives and license it with cc-by-sa and give credit to the original creator to comply with the license agreement or do I say it is work from the original creator and license it as a cc-by-sa WikiGrower1 (talk) 03:42, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
@WikiGrower1: I don't understand that last question. I can't parse Would if it is in a cc-by-sa at all.
It is possible that rather than work out how to make the Upload Wizard do what you want to, you should hand-edit using Special:Upload. Here are some examples of legitimate ways to do this sort of thing:

How to add a link to a section of an article on Wikimedia Commons ~2025-33696-18 (talk) 05:00, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@~2025-33696-1: If I understand you correctly, you are asking how to link from Wikimedia Commons, to a section of a Wikipedia article. (If you meant something else, please reword.) There are a few ways to do it; here are four examples:

I want a section from the Ukrainian Wikipedia article to be added to Commons, for example, the section: Повітряні сили from the article: Збройні сили Єгипту. Please add it to the Commons page related to the Egyptian Air Force. ~2025-33616-27 (talk) 01:50, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Click on this article, then switch to English, and you'll understand what I mean. ~2025-34137-58 (talk) 13:42, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Why aren't you answering me? ~2025-34105-65 (talk) 00:06, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hello IP user, it seems you want to link a Ukrainian Wikipedia article to a Wikidata item. So, I don't think the issue is related to Wikimedia Commons. Maybe it is better to ask your question in Ukrainian Wikipedia or Wikidata. Thanks. Tvpuppy (talk) 01:25, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

I think I got it. First you have to create a redirecting page like uk:Повітряні сили Єгипту which contains #REDIRECT[[Збройні сили Єгипту#Повітряні сили]], then you can add this redirecting page to d:Q1351405. --Achim55 (talk) 09:23, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Can others see my work. Can I delete my work if someone uses it Talented12 (talk) 08:16, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Talented12: yes, everything you do in Wikimedia is public for the entire world, including this conversation.
You can set license terms, but you must allow others to use your work. This is the entire purpose of Commons. You also can't delete your own uploads (limited exception is made if you change your mind shortly (seven days) after upload). MKFI (talk) 08:50, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
More precisely: yes, anyone can see and reuse your work. No, you cannot delete it, and even the 7-day grace period that MKFI mentions is not an entitlement, it is just a courtesy we generally grant. - Jmabel ! talk 23:34, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Also you must allow others to use modify and sell/use commercially your own work if you upload your own work. The only thing you can generally control is whether credit is required and whether the same license type is required. WikiGrower1 (talk) 02:53, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Uploading an image file

[edit]

I am trying to upload a new image to replace a wrong one in in entry about my Great Grandfather, Henry Irwin, Architect in India. After one attempt, a blank file appears to exist. It will not accept a new one as it tells me it is a duplicate of a file already uploaded, but I cannot delete or overwrite the first file. This my first attempt to edit a Wikimedia entry, and it is not proving a positive experience. Tom Carr 0 (talk) 15:24, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Tom Carr 0: The overwriting is bound to a user right that you may not yet have (restricting the overwriting is a measure of protection against vandalism; the guideline is found at COM:OVERWRITE). I put a speedy deletion tag on the apparently defective file File:Henry Irwin Nov 1915.jpg. When it's gone, you should be able to try the upload again. Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 16:43, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Grand-Duc, I will try that tomorrow.
Tom ~2025-33853-67 (talk) 21:45, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
This is still not working. I appear to have successfully uploaded the new image to Wikimedia Commons, but when I try to edit the Wikipedia page it tells me there is no file uploaded. However, if i try to upload a new image, it tells me there was an identical image that has been deleted, and I should check why. I know why it was deleted, you did it for me, but wikipedia will not let me upload an updated version.
Why is this so difficult? Why should I waste my time trying to correct a simple and understandable mistake if Wikipedia is so awkward about it? Tom Carr 0 (talk) 13:13, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
I don't know what's happening, Tom Carr 0. But I've seen that you activated the Wikimedia e-mail function. So, I'd suggest that you upload your image to Dropbox, Google files or whatever file hoster you fancy and mail me its link and the description through Special:EMailUser/Grand-Duc. I will then try the upload from my side. Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 15:19, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Have just done that - hope this works!
Tom Tom Carr 0 (talk) 20:15, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Tom, please check whether File:Henry Irwin Nov 1915.jpg is good for you, now (I'd be glad if you could add something to the description or the like, so as to save in the version history that you're aware of that upload). The file you send me through your cloud was one without extension when I downloaded it, I had to manually add ".jpg". This may have been a source of irritation for the upload tool, but that's only a theory. Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 20:51, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Grand-Duc, that is the right image, and I have added a note to that effect to the image details. I have now sucessfully edited the relevant page. I have no idea where the .jpg got lost, but you may well be right that that was where the problem lay.
Many thanks for your help! Tom Tom Carr 0 (talk) 23:30, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Tom Carr 0: the EXIF tell me that you used an Apple computer to process the file. en:macOS is a unixoid operating system. Those do not rely as much on file extensions as Windows does when working with files (nearly everything that a common Windows user sees has extensions). In fact, in the related Linux ecosystems, there's a saying that "everything is a file", including folders and links to memory devices like hard disks or external storage. It may be similar for Apple.
Unix-based systems can deal with file extensions, of course, but they're not as needed and thus can inadvertently get lost when saving something. Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 23:53, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

image uploading

Hello, I was just wondering if I am able to upload a monochrome only text version of the "untitled tag game" logo on roblox. It doesn’t have the roblox characters or anything else, just the image. Should I upload it? RaveCrowny (talk) 17:52, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

You mean this logo? This logo is certainly below the threshold of originality in the US, although it may or may not be in its country of origin. Do you know what country the dev is from? HyperAnd (talk) 20:37, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
I am pretty sure jasper and most of the utg team are american. RaveCrowny (talk) 20:47, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
If that's the case, then the monochrome text logo is OK to upload. When uploading, pick "This work is not protected by copyright law" and then under "Add a specific public domain tag, if applicable" enter {{PD-textlogo}}. HyperAnd (talk) 20:54, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

How to contribute a new article - not image, but text.

@Fontsquared: Wikimedia Commons (this site) does not host articles. You would have to contact the site you are asking about, and you don't say anything here that indicates what that would be.
I'm not aware of any Wikimedia Foundation site that uploads articles. For Wikipedia, for example, articles must be written in wikitext (sometimes through use of a WYSIWYG editor) on the site itself. - Jmabel ! talk 23:37, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Fontsquared If the article is in English, then as you know already, as a self declared paid editor on enWiki with concomitant restrictions on what you may and may not do you are constrained to work within Draft: space, and should use w:en:WP:AFC. But you are doing that already, so I cannot see the point of your asking your question when you know the answer already. 🇵🇸‍🇺🇦 Timtrent 🇺🇦 talk to me 🇺🇦‍🇵🇸 00:38, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Eine kleine Nachtmusik, K.525 (Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus) - IMSLP

Wikieditor662 (talk) 02:02, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Wikieditor662: seems reasonable, but of course no one here can vouch for a specific document being exactly what it is claimed to be. On any user-driven site, including this one, there is always the possibility of a fraudulent upload. All you really can do is be clear about source so that anyone with doubts can readily do their own process of validation. You should presumably categorize it under Category:Serenade, K.525 (Mozart), and we do not seem to have a copy of that document (or if we do it is miscategorized). - Jmabel ! talk 07:46, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Removing other's comments

[edit]

Is there a Commons rule similar to WP:TPO ("Removing others' comments is prohibited, except on one's own user talk page or if the comments violate scenarios outlined above.") written down somewhere? I'm asking because of this edit [2], which I won't revert either way for the sake of peace, but I'd like to know if there's a policy or something. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:41, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Gråbergs Gråa Sång: I've boldly re-added the removed comments with some minor formatting tweaks. It's was wrong for the other user to have removed the comments per COM:TALK#In general. In this case, the other person account is only a few days old; so, the removal was probably just a combination of being new and perhaps frustration. If the other user removes them again, you might try pointing out why this is wrong on their user talk page and ask them to self-revert or re-add them yourself. If they start getting rude, you can always bring their behavior up for discussion at COM:AN/U. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:19, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

National Register of Historic Places Listings in Maryland

[edit]

How long does it take between photo uploads and appearance of contributed images in the state and county listings? Some of my Maryland images were uploaded nearly 2weeks ago and have not shown up. Don’t know if I should be more patient and wait or upload again. Linda Roy Walls (talk) 08:53, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Linda Roy Walls: Thanks for uploading photos of historic sites! Volunteer Wikipedia editors update articles with photos from Wikimedia Commons. If you've uploaded photos for Wiki Loves Monuments, some of them are used within a few hours; others can take much longer. You can update the Wikipedia listings yourself if you'd like (and I encourage you to do so!). ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 10:15, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the insight Kevin! I was worried the images had been lost. I upload, they are accepted, but you are right. Some show in the NHP listings within a few hours and others are taking much longer. I often devote a cluster of days to uncovering structures with accurate locations that need photos, then getting those acquired. Some acquisitions take hours and a lot of courage to approach owners far down remote driveways and then ask permission to photograph, in an era where people seem to have become much more private. Linda Roy Walls (talk) 12:26, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
FWIW, less than 10% of images on Commons are used in any Wikipedia article in any language, and there is nothing magic about their appearance there. Inclusion in an article is a separate explicit action. We welcome having numerous images of a building; unless it is a very important building, it is unusual for more than one of those to make its way into the English-language Wikipedia. - Jmabel ! talk 07:08, 19 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

can i use these images on my page? :)

i have these images of a cat, theyre stock photos but some of them are memes (mostly made by me), but i do not "own the copyright" to the images and i cant upload them without saying i do (is lying ok?), and i was directed here by that page and uhh, ya thats it

i couldnt find them in the search, and it also told me to "use the upload wizard if you dont", but according to the infographic on the front page of the upload wizard i cant upload it there either which is confusing

it is imperative at least one of the images are on my page in any way (most preferably in the image form)

best regards :) Official-brongle (talk) 13:34, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

The answer is almost no, you pretty much can't upload almost all stock photos from the Internet(and no, lying is  Not OK, we'll soon find out). See COM:THIRD for a complete reason why you shouldn't upload third party works unless you know what you're doing.
That being said, we already have loads of photos of cats on Wikimedia Commons, see Category:Felis silvestris catus or search "cat" on Special:MediaSearch. If you want to make derivative works, you'll need to use the freely licensed images already on here while crediting the original authors, before uploading.

[edit]

so i joined here to make power rangers zeo vs the machine empire thing but since i don´t know if there is upload of the cover i downloaded it but since i don´t know hasbro number or anyone who worked on the game number i can´t post it so what to do about it and if anyone knows the numbers of them? Username kid1 (talk) 18:16, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Username kid1: It sounds like you are describing something we cannot host here. Wikimedia Commons hosts only content that is either in the public domain or under a free license. For materials that are copyrighted by Hasbro, we would need a free license from Hasbro, and they are very unlikely to grant that. See COM:THIRD if you want to learn more. - Jmabel ! talk 07:12, 19 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Can I upload the Content Credentials Logo to WC?

[edit]

The owners of the copyright of the Content Credentials logo explicitly mention that the logo is

https://c2pa.org/introducing-official-content-credentials-icon/

Is this enough to allow uploading to wikipedia commons? The explicit goal of this logo is for it to be widely used by anyone.

> The icon – a minimalist pin containing the letters “CR” – can be etched into media, such as images and video, in a way that seamlessly fits into creator and consumer workflows. In keeping with the guiding principles of the C2PA, it is also open source so it can be easily adopted by companies or developers into any platform, product, tool or solution. BixiEnjoyer (talk) 23:50, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

  • @BixiEnjoyer: I think you are probably at least a bit confused. That logo looks to me to be too simple to copyright in any country I'm aware of. If it can't be copyrighted, then there can't be "owners of the copyright". It could be uploaded to Commons with {{Textlogo}} and (to be on the safe side) {{Trademarked}} in lieu of a license. I hope that answers your question. - Jmabel ! talk 07:17, 19 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi RichardKro. Are you asking a question about a file that has been uploaded to Wikimedia Commons or are you asking a question about some edits you made to the Norwegian Wikipedia article no:Norgesdemokratene? This help desk is for asking questions about Wikimedia Commons. If your question has to do with Norwegian Wikipedia, you will need to ask for help at the Norwegian Wikipedia Help Desk no:Wikipedia:Nybegynnerforum. Wikimedia Commons and the various language Wikipedias (like Norwegian Wikipedia) are sister projects, but they're also different projects with their own policies and guidelines. This help desk might be able to answer any questions about uploading files or image use, but you'll need to ask at Norwegian Wikipedia's Help Desk if you want help understanding what happened with your edits made on Norwegian Wikipedia. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:08, 20 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Submitted to wrong category

[edit]

I submitted a photo under the wrong category (People in science rather than Wildlife and nature images) for the Wiki Science Competition 2025. The image I'm referring to can be found here: File:Field-of-fireflies-wilkes-ecology-preserve-photo-by-tyler-savitski.jpg

How do I go about correcting this error? I've manually edited the category but unsure if that is a legitimate fix. Any assistance and/or insight would be greatly appreciated. TSavitski (talk) 02:40, 20 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@TSavitski: All they will be going by is what is on the page, so that should be fine.
You really ought to also add categories for where this is geographically (the most specific relevant category) and, if you know the species, or at least genus, of firefly involved you should add that (in description and categories) as well. If you don't know the genus, presumably at the very least you could add Category:Lampyridae or (better) a subcat of Category:Lampyridae by country. - Jmabel ! talk 06:06, 20 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Okay. I'll go through and add some more categories, though I can't be confident that this isn't multiple species of firefly, just that they are fireflies. Given that, I'll take your advice and add some categories at the taxonomic level of family based on region as well as categories for the region itself. Thank you! @Mr-ahk: Can't be done. - Jmabel ! talk 06:07, 20 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Mr-ahk: As Jmabel posted above, this kind of thing isn't possible because of the type of licensing Commons uses for edits made by Commons users: all edits need to be attributed to the account that made them: en:WP:LOGGEDOUT is an English Wikipedia page, but the same also applies to Commons. Even though the IP addresses of non-registered accounts making edits are no longer publicly visible, there is still a record for licensing purposes. So, if you want to connect the dots between the two accounts, you can do so by posting something on your registered account's userpage containing a link to the edit (i.e., I made this edit while logged out), or by making a en:WP:DUMMY edit to the file's page and connecting the edit to your registered account via an edit summary. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:44, 21 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Unable to generate a certificate after 23 image uploads in Wiki Science competition.

I went to https://www.wikisciencecompetition.in/ as https://www.wikisciencecompetition.org/participate/ brings me to there. I have uploaded 23 pictures of scientific relevance with descriptions through proper options. However, on theory https://www.wikisciencecompetition.in/certificate tells

"Upload 20 or more eligible images to the Wiki Science Competition to unlock your personalized certificate of participation"

but still it is not generating any certificate. It keep saying :

   Eligibility Check Failed
Sorry, user 'RIT RAJARSHI' does not have enough eligible uploads. At least 20 images are required.

Polish newspaper article from 1937

[edit]

Hello, I'd like to upload a photo of a newspaper article from 1937 that my father had. The article describes an airplane accident that my grandfather Jerzy Gablenz (1888-1937) perished in. I'd like to understand how I can legally add this document to page: https://pl.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Katastrofa_lotnicza_pod_Piasecznem&veaction=edit&section=6.

According to a quick search in Google... Under the copyright law in effect in Poland in 1937, a newspaper article entered the public domain 50 years after its publication

The Polish copyright law of March 29, 1926, was in force in Poland at the time the article was published. The law stipulated a 50-year term of protection that began at the time of publication.

Calculation for a newspaper article from 1937 Initial copyright: The 50-year period began in 1937. Expiration date: The copyright expired on December 31, 1987. Current status: As of 2025, the article has been in the public domain for many years.

Modern Polish copyright law In 1994, Poland passed a new copyright law that retroactively extended copyright terms for some works. However, this did not revive the copyright for works that had already entered the public domain under previous laws.

Thank you. George Gablenz George Gablenz (talk) 23:27, 20 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@George Gablenz: you should be able to use {{PD-Poland}}. - Jmabel ! talk 23:37, 20 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I didn't see it explicitly stated in PD-Poland, but does it also apply to newspaper articles? George Gablenz (talk) 23:51, 20 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
@George Gablenz: Good question. Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Poland doesn't cleanly cover this case. You'll probably need to take this to COM:VP/C where it is more likely that someone with expertise may weigh in. - Jmabel ! talk 05:40, 21 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

(working via Google Translate) @Mmsmr: There are two ways you can do a cropped version for use in the Japanese Wikipedia. Either should be fine.
  1. You can use CropTool to create a cropped version. Please be sure to create a distinct new file; do not overwrite the original file.
  2. You can use ja:Template:CSS image crop.

Via Google translate: you can't change who owns the copyright (so I'll have to change that to an indication that it is suppressed) unless you actually were to legally transfer the copyright, but I can hide everything about your name there which sounds like what you want. - Jmabel ! talk 21:55, 21 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
I believe nothing is left there that will readily identify you. Of course, with enough "detective work" someone could work it out from this request, but no one reusing the image is likely to do so.
I cannot do anything about other sites already having copied your name, nor would deleting the image from Commons solve that. If you want that suppressed in particular sites, you will have to follow that up yourself. - Jmabel ! talk 22:17, 21 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Searching for summaries among bot contribs

[edit]

Hello,

I came across Special:Diff/102129604/153913976 where a bot used the summary "Bot: Internationalisation. Wiping interlanguage links." As in that exact case, it actually removed a malformed but needed Wikilink and not an interwiki, I fear that there are other examples where this kind of edits destroyed some meaning in file descriptions. Is there any way to search for that string, "Wiping interlanguage links", among Special:Contributions/YaCBot? Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 16:22, 21 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Grand-Duc: My guess is that any such search would itself be a bot task. There is some chance that the owner of the bot might be willing to help you out. - Jmabel ! talk 22:19, 21 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
I doubt it: User:McZusatz "last edited 7 years ago" here and, as German is declared as mother tongue, on DE-WP: "McZusatz (zuletzt aktiv im Juli 2020)". OK, if you assume such a thing being a bot task... @Krd: as bot operator (and bureaucrat) yourself, can you provide some more info, perhaps? @Bertault34: I'm missing what this question has to do with Commons, but assuming that (like most Wikipedias) you are allowed to create templates, the normal approach would be to create one modeled on a corresponding template in a similar language. That would probably be ca:Plantilla:Infobox election or, if you are more comfortable with French, fr:Modèle:Infobox Élection. It looks like the relevant template involves a large cluster of pages, so this could be a bit of an undertaking. - Jmabel ! talk 01:10, 25 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
